Harriet Kohen specializes in working with school age children and adolescents and adults, teaching them how to manage their emotions through mind/body communications and to manage the impact of chronic conditions and illnesses effectively. She teaches effective parenting skills and works with individual adults with anxiety, phobias, sleep problems, depression and recovery from traumatic events. She specializes in working from a holistic perspective with youth and families where a member has a serious health condition and wants to focus on family relationships, explore the meaning of their life, or address particular issues related to their diagnosis or treatment. Trained in biofeedback based relaxation and clinical hypnosis for symptom management, she emphasizes self-regulation strategies and teaches relaxation and stress management to promote behavioral and somatic change. Ms. Kohen also integrates expressive writing, art, and storytelling to facilitate self-expression and emotional healing.
